Our story

It all started in 2009, when Carine and Dominique began to look for a summerhouse where they would one day enjoy their holidays. Unconditional lovers of Italy, they explored this wonderful country in search of a true treasure. One year later, they finally agreed on the amazing Island of Sardinia for the beauty and magic of its east- coast.

They discovered a charming house for sale, perched on a hill of Porto San Paolo, with a stunning view of Tavolara Island. It was exactly what they were looking for, and so, they decided to go one step further and purchase this lovely house.

Over the years, travels between Belgium and Italy multiplied. The appeal of Sardigna became louder and louder and the idea of staying on the Island of Nuraghe forever slowly grew.

On the eve of the year 2015, an opportunity arose to purchase a second villa in the neighbour locality of Porto Istana.  The two business owners took a leap of faith, packed up their lives in cold and dreary Belgium and moved to Sardinia to open their Bed and Breakfast.

After a few months of renovation and hard work, the dream came true and finally Villa Smeralda opened its doors in the spring of 2016.
